Statement:

South King County deserves leaders who solve problems – not just talk about them. When my neighborhood experienced mail theft, I organized and obtained secure mailboxes. When seniors struggled to maintain their yards, I organized neighborhood cleanups. After seeing my grassroots efforts get results, neighbors encouraged me to run for city council.

I’ve served as a City of SeaTac Councilmember for ten years with a strong record of success. Without raising city taxes, we turned a deficit into a surplus while expanding parks, reducing police response times by 40%, and expanding human services. SeaTac doesn’t have homelessness  – we find them housing.  We helped open 30 new child daycare centers.  During the pandemic, we maintained essential services, provided grants to struggling businesses, and prioritized the needs of our most vulnerable. We built more than 2,000 affordable homes at light rail stations.

Now I’m running for King County Council to bring the same fiscal discipline, community-first leadership, and collaborative spirit to King County. I will focus on increasing access to behavioral and public health services, housing affordability, improving public safety, and expanding transportation.  I will help small businesses, union apprenticeships, and job training programs to ensure every resident can thrive.

I believe elected officials must listen. Every Sunday morning for the past ten years, I’ve been available at local coffee shops to hear residents’ concerns and ideas. I serve on the Board of the National League of Cities and have served on more than 20 regional boards and commissions improving life in South King County.

I am proud to be endorsed by many local leaders, community members, and labor advocates. However, the endorsement that matters most is yours. I would be honored to earn your vote and represent you with experience, hard work, discipline, and a deep commitment to our community.

Statement:

South King County deserves strong leadership that delivers real results. For too long, our community has been overlooked when it comes to resources and support. I’m running for King County Council to prioritize our needs: hold down everyday costs, strengthen public safety, build more housing, and improve access to mental health and addiction treatment services.

We are all tired of broken systems and empty promises. As an attorney, public-school mom and PTSA member, and President of the Harborview Board of Trustees, I’ve spent my career bringing people together to solve problems. I know how to get resources where they’re needed and will hold leaders accountable to deliver results. That’s the kind of experience and urgency South King County needs right now.

As the only Democrat and only candidate in this race who has successfully led a regional governing body, I’m proud to be endorsed by Congressman Adam Smith, 10 South King County mayors, King County Executive Shannon Braddock, current and former King County Councilmembers, and a broad coalition of labor unions, business leaders, first responders, and community advocates, who trust me to make real progress on safety, homelessness, and affordability.

My husband and I live here with our two sons and extended family nearby. I also coach youth basketball, serve on nonprofit boards, and volunteer with neighbors to strengthen South King County from the ground up. South King County is our home—and I am committed to building a safer, more affordable future for all of us. I’d be honored to earn your vote.

Additional Endorsements: Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland, former Governor Gregoire, The Seattle Times, 47th LD Democrats, Seattle-King County Building Trades, LiUNA Local 242, former King County Councilmember Julia Patterson, Commissioners Sam Cho and Toshiko Hasegawa, and many more.
