GENERAL 2025
Metropolitan King County
Executive
I’m proud to be endorsed by Governor Bob Ferguson, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Congressman Adam Smith, Attorney General Nick Brown, Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates, Alliance for Gun Responsibility, King County Democrats, business leaders and the most labor unions. I have earned their support because of my unmatched track record and clear vision for the future of King County.
Too many people are doing everything right and still falling behind. After decades of failed promises and business as usual, we are all frustrated. We can do better. As Executive, I’ll focus relentlessly on accountability. Every tax dollar must deliver safer, healthier, and more affordable communities.
I know how hard it is to make ends meet. I was raised in South Seattle by a single mother after our family arrived as refugees. We experienced homelessness, lived in public housing, and relied on food stamps. Today, I’m a husband and father raising my own family here. That’s what drives me to make government work better for everyone.
That experience also led me to a life of service. I clerked in the Obama White House, practiced business law at top national firms, and founded and ran a national youth education nonprofit. I’ve spent my career expanding opportunity and delivering results.
As Council Chair, I led the work to fund new addiction recovery centers, fund our first responder system for public safety, pass eviction prevention laws to keep people housed, advance King County’s gun violence prevention strategy, increase the minimum wage, and invest in thousands of new affordable homes.
These are real solutions. As Executive, I’ll tackle our urgent challenges head-on—ending homelessness, improving public safety, defending reproductive rights, expanding addiction care, addressing climate change, and helping small businesses thrive. If you’re ready for a new leader who delivers, I’d be honored to earn your vote.

King County is at a crossroads — and business as usual isn’t working. Too many neighbors are being priced out. Homelessness remains a crisis. Rollbacks of rights threaten our safety and economy. These uncertain times require the decades of proven leadership that I bring. I’m the only candidate with executive experience leading a large agency and a record of fixing broken systems. As Executive, I’ll ensure every dollar delivers real, measurable results. The Seattle Times called me “best suited to lead the region to better days.”
Committed to being King County’s “Housing Executive,” I’ve delivered thousands of new homes and laid the foundation for hundreds of thousands more, as well as emergency shelter and supportive housing. The Urbanist endorses my plan to build 44,000 more, calling it “ambitious and achievable.”
A former countywide safety leader, I’ll balance accountability and compassion to keep communities safe. Moms Demand Action gave me a “Candidate Distinction” for reducing gun violence and former Sheriff Sue Rahr endorses my “understanding of the system, ability to drive change, and consistent work toward safer communities.”
I overcame fierce opposition to expand light rail to the Eastside and am delivering South County service ahead of schedule, in addition to transit and pedestrian/bike improvements. Transportation4WA calls me "the region’s undisputed leader on light rail expansion, transit safety, & building trails across the county.”
I’ll use my legal experience to fight federal overreach, from reproductive justice to immigrant and LGBTQ+ rights. The Progressive Voters Guide praises my “vision of an inclusive, vibrant, and climate-friendly county where all residents can thrive.”
My promise to you: proven leadership to deliver bold and achievable results. Endorsed: The Seattle Times; Firefighters; King County Democrats; Affordable Housing Council; Transportation4WA; Snoqualmie Tribe; Win With Women; Eastside Business Alliance; Unions; 18 Mayors; over 100 elected and community leaders.
