PRIMARY 2025
Executive
I’m running for Executive to tackle the issues that matter most: crime, housing, and taxes.
Public safety and fighting crime must be our top priority! Unfortunately, they haven’t been for years. Murders are up 59% in five years, and too many people don’t feel safe in their own neighborhoods. Our criminal justice system—nearly 80% of the county budget—is overwhelmed and dangerously under-funded. Earlier this year, King County was facing a $150 million deficit due to the County Council’s overspending and budget mismanagement. The legislature provided a new revenue lifeline, which averted deep cuts that would have crippled services in some areas.
I’ll make sure this new revenue is spent exclusively on core public safety services: police, public defenders, prosecutors, adult and juvenile detention, and the courts. Additionally, I will scrub the budget for savings we can pump into public safety. I’ve never supported defunding police or closing the youth jail. A safe community is a thriving community; otherwise, we fail our kids, our seniors, and those most at risk.
I’ll bring common sense to the job, propose priority-based budgets that spend within their means, and continue working for tax relief to make it more affordable for homeowners and renters to live in King County. I’ve fought in Olympia to get seniors a much-deserved tax break.
I’ve never been keeper of the status quo. I’m not running for a title or a stepping stone. I’ll even propose term limits for the Executive because this should be a job where you get in, get things done, and get out.
Together, we can make King County safer, more affordable, and a better place to live. I’d be honored to earn your vote.

Today represents the day of reckoning. As voters we have a chance to implement new leadership, ideas, and values within our local government. We have seen decisions being made based on organization affiliation and we have run our campaign as completely independent with no party affiliation or funding, instead supported by volunteers and voters.
I myself have worked for the Department of Defense, Bank of America, and Microsoft and donated over $12,000 to the community. I could list a bunch of accolades for you to put your trust in me, but instead I want to shed light on the obligation I feel to run for this office as an individual with no political affiliation. I bring the perspective of a working class woman, entrepreneur, founder, and friend. I want to focus on being a voice for the people who have no money or power, but still live on earth and face the consequences of decisions made.
Under my leadership we will create a place for liberty and justice for all, A place for DJS , A place for Doctors, A place for Policeman, A place for Engineers, A place for Kids, A place for Moms, A place for Muslims, A place for Buddhist, A place for Christians, A place for Atheist, A place for the Un- sheltered, A place for the Wealthy, A place for He, A place for She, A place for They, A place for Them, A place for all .King County Counts, Count Us In! Can we count on you?
Our county faces urgent affordability, safety, and behavioral health challenges, and we must defend our economy and rights against federal attacks. This moment requires proven leadership– and action. Good intentions won’t build housing, create jobs, or help vulnerable people. I’ll bring an unmatched track record and new perspectives– rooted in experience as a criminal justice leader, mom, Councilmember and former Mayor– to the office of County Executive. I’ll work tirelessly for you, our families, and communities.
I’m the only candidate in this race who has delivered housing– thousands of homes for working people and low income families, and emergency shelter with wraparound care. As Executive, I’ll pursue transformational policies that accelerate housing opportunities.
I offer hands-on public safety expertise and consistent support for both accountability and compassionate approaches. I know what’s needed to protect the public, reduce gun violence, safeguard survivors of assault and abuse, and restore lives harmed by addiction. As Executive, I’ll invest in the staffing and services needed to improve community safety.
As the region’s leading voice for light rail expansion, transit safety, and improvements for pedestrians and bikes, I’m committed to the economic and climate benefits of effective transportation. I’ve championed clean air and water, habitat and parks. As Executive, I’ll build on my record of transit and environmental leadership.
I’ll use my experience as a lawyer and commitment to justice to fight Trump administration overreach, safeguarding the diversity that makes us strong. I'll be the first woman elected County Executive at a time when attacks continue on reproductive rights.
I’m the only Executive candidate endorsed by a coalition of business and labor– Machinists751, Laborers242, Transit Operators587, SEIU925 frontline workers, and more. King County & District Democrats, transit & environmental groups, Mayors & Legislators agree I’ll be an unwavering, effective leader. I ask for your vote.

This year I’m filing to use the Voters’ Pamphlet County Executive Candidate statement to detail concerns with Sound Transit using voter Prop 1 approval in 2016 to spend $54B between 2017 and 2041 on ST3 extensions to spend $150B between 2017 and 2046 and leave the area $18B in debt. ST3 extensions for 4-car light rail trains routed along I-5 corridor and across I-90 Bridge don’t have the capacity to attract riders needed to reduce peak hour congestion and cost too much to operate during off peak hours.
ST has spent and will continue to spend hundreds of millions on light rail extensions beyond UW and SeaTac and across I-90 bridge that do nothing to reduce congestion into Seattle. They exacerbate both capacity and cost problems by opting to use light rail trains to replace bus routes into the city.
The 2024 Lynnwood Link debut demonstrated providing commuters with access to light rail doesn’t assure riders. The 80,000 residents living within a mile of the Link stations resulted in 6643 March 2025 Lynnwood boardings; most of whom were former bus riders whose routes were terminated at one of the stations.
Ridership that also raises doubts as to whether Ballard and West Seattle to Sodo extensions justify the cost of boring a 2nd tunnel under Seattle or constructing a 2nd Duwamish Waterway bridge. Aborting both links would save nearly $20B and a decade of disruption during construction.
The latest example of the ST boards approach to ST3 is the 2025 budget they approved in March. It details a staffing budget of $957.5 M for 1572 positions, including 194 “executives”. Yet, pays others to finalize transit system design and construction, drive and maintain light rail cars and buses, showing more interest in transit oriented development and affordable housing than congestion.

In a world increasingly marked by division and discord, the need for unity has never been more pressing. As we stand at the crossroads of opportunity and challenge, I am humbled to put forth my candidacy for King County Executive. My vision is to foster a community where every voice is heard, every concern is addressed, and every individual feels they belong. Together, we can build a brighter future for King County through collaboration, empathy, and shared purpose.
I am proud to be the only candidate on the ballot who has the official endorsement of the Republican Party and serve as the GOP’s standard bearer in this race. People support me because they know that I am deeply concerned about taxes, the cost of living, crime and homelessness. We are far worse off in each of these areas than we were when the last County Executive was elected. Under my leadership we will do much better. Common Sense with Compassion.
Did you know that County leaders have increased your taxes by nearly 50% in the last ten years? Do you believe you are getting 50% better services from the county than you were 10 years ago? With critical services not being provided, the answer is clearly No.
In addition to keeping costs down, we must reprioritize the County’s approximately $20 billion budget to fully fund our sheriff, prosecutor and other criminal justice services instead of pursuing foolhardy ideas like closing county jails and releasing violent offenders into our community. We must make a meaningful dent in violent crime and drug addiction in King County.
When elected, I will establish a humane standard for the removal of homeless encampments and I will enforce that standard. Statistics show that Seattle has become a dead-end street for America’s homeless population. It’s not surprising because King County spends Millions on single occupancy apartments, when we should be building congregate shelters at a fraction of the cost. With congregate shelters we can house our homeless population indoors and eliminate the ugly and dangerous outdoor encampments.
I will use my management experience in both the private and non-profit sectors to rein in King County and bring it back to one of America’s best places to live and work. Together we can make a Difference!

The deepening crisis of the capitalist system is intensifying conflicts between ruling classes around the world, bringing us closer to nuclear conflagration and a third world war. Only the working class taking power can disarm the imperialist rulers and stop this!
We live in a class-divided country ruled by a tiny class of billionaire families through their Democratic and Republican parties. Working people need to break from both, and build an independent movement to defend ourselves against the bosses’ attacks on our wages and living conditions. A revolutionary political party is needed to lead millions to fight for workers’ power, to build a society based on human solidarity.
I support all methods that build the solidarity, confidence, and fighting capacity of the working class to defend our interests, and I oppose methods that undermine solidarity between us and promote dependence on this dog-eat-dog system.
Fight for a federally-funded public works program to put millions to work at union wages building and repairing infrastructure, schools, parks, affordable housing and hospitals; for a shorter workweek at no loss in pay to prevent layoffs; and for workers control of production to guarantee safety on the job and protect the environment!
Oppose all attacks on constitutional freedom of worship and speech; freedom of the press, association, and assembly; due process; and other liberties needed and used by the toilers!
Build support for labor struggles for higher wages and work schedules that allow family time and recreation! Amnesty for immigrants—unify the entire working class! Fight Jew-hatred and defend Israel’s right to exist as a refuge for Jews in face of rising anti-Jewish attacks worldwide! US out of the Middle East! Defend Ukraine’s sovereignty! US troops and nuclear weapons out of Europe! Join the Socialist Workers Party!
I’m proud to be endorsed by Governor Bob Ferguson, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Attorney General Nick Brown, the King County Democrats, and numerous unions and business leaders. I have earned their support because of my unmatched track record and my clear vision for the future of King County.
Too many people are doing everything right and still falling behind. After decades of failed promises and business as usual, we are all frustrated. We can do better. As Executive, I’ll focus relentlessly on accountability. Every tax dollar must deliver safer, healthier, and more affordable communities.
That urgency comes from my life experience. I was raised in South Seattle by a single mother after our family arrived as refugees. We experienced homelessness, lived in public housing, and relied on food stamps. I know how hard it is to make ends meet. Today, I’m a husband and father raising my own family here. That’s what drives me to make government work better for everyone.
That experience also led me to a life of service. I worked in the Obama White House, practiced law at top national firms, led anti-poverty policy efforts, and founded and ran a national youth education nonprofit. I’ve spent my career expanding opportunity and delivering results.
As Council Chair, I led the work to fund new crisis care centers to address the addiction crisis, pass eviction prevention laws to keep thousands housed, create King County’s gun violence prevention strategy, and invest in thousands of new units of affordable homes. These are real solutions.
As Executive, I’ll tackle our biggest challenges head-on—ending homelessness with urgency, improving public safety, defending reproductive rights, expanding addiction care, addressing climate change, and helping small businesses thrive. If you’re ready for leadership that delivers, I’d be honored to earn your vote.
