As water commissioner, I have aimed to ensure a sustainable supply of safe and affordable water for all the district’s inhabitants.

Since I joined the commission in 2018, the district has: completed its water system plan to better understand the resources available to us; devised a plan to reinvest in our aging infrastructure, thereby reducing wasteful leakage and increasing the supply available to serve our customers; revised the rate structure to pay for those investments; included the first 25 gallons a day in the base charge, to keep water affordable for low-income residents; lifted a moratorium on issuing new water shares first imposed before the turn of the century; and updated the water requirements for multi-family housing to more accurately reflect the low demand those dwellings place on our system.
