GENERAL 2023
Shoreline Fire Department
Commissioner Position No. 1
It has been an honor serving on your board of Shoreline Fire Commissioners. During these years, we have faced a pandemic, explosive growth and increasing mental health populations. From new dwellings to light rail, the need for emergency services continue to increase. Throughout these challenges, we have maintained balanced budgets and lowered fire department tax rates, all while maintaining stellar emergency services. This proactive success, has been accomplished in a professional and collaborative manner. I will continue working to ensure your tax dollars are allocated efficiently, ensuring the highest level of emergency services.
Primarily, I am extremely grateful to the Shoreline citizens for their continued support of our Shoreline Fire Department.
Memberships: King County Fire Commissioners Association, Washington Fire Commissioner Association, National Association of Emergency Responders. Endorsement: Shoreline Fire Firefighters and Paramedics Local 1760. I am also supported by my fellow board members. Thank you for your vote.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to read the candidate statements. The duties of a Fire Commissioner are setting policies, developing budgets, hiring the Fre Chief, and, most importantly, acting as the fiduciary for you, the taxpayer.
My experience as a healthcare professional, paramedic, and firefighter has uniquely qualified me to assist the Shoreline Fire Department with transitioning to the future.
Managing the exploding number of non-emergency calls to 911 requires staffing the dispatch centers with navigators trained in mental health and advanced nursing care. The best 911 call is the one not requiring a fire response. My nearly 48 years of experience in fire, EMS, and health services enable me to be the best candidate for this position. I will bring a fresh approach to budgeting and policy development. In addition to my experience, I served for over 11 years at the former Snohomish County Fire District One.
