PRIMARY 2023
Si View Metropolitan Park District
Commissioner Position No. 1
I am privileged to live within the natural beauty of the Snoqualmie Valley. My wife, four school-aged children, Labrador Retriever, and I enjoy the area’s many outdoor activities.
We need safe playgrounds and trails, natural open spaces, well-maintained fields for organized sports, swim lessons, farmers’ markets, camps and classes, and other opportunities to enhance the quality of life of our community. I support expanding open spaces and trails and developing a new aquatic center. Drowning is the second leading cause of death for children ages 5-14. Every child should have the opportunity to learn to swim (adults, too!). A new aquatic center means access and programming that will save lives, but it must be built on time and on budget.
As your Park Commissioner, I will be dedicated to preserving the area’s beauty, increasing recreation access, and ensuring accountability and transparency. I ask for your vote.
I am a 10 year resident of North Bend and have loved watching the outdoor recreation and open parks and spaces grow with the community. North Bend is known for its access to the outdoors, and I would love to work to keep that connectedness for our town. I feel strongly that we need to support all ages of our residents with the District offerings, and as a mom of three small children I am motivated to work toward a pool that will be useful and affordable. As a physical therapist I love that the connectedness of our open spaces allows for easy access to various destinations via walking and biking, and I would like to further expand this where possible. I look forward to serving this community if I am elected, see you on the trails (or at dance classes or track meets)!
In the 1990's I learned of a proposed development between North Bend and Snoqualmie, and began the process of buying Meadowbrook Farm into public ownership, serving on that park board for many years, maintaining the organic status of the park and improving the wildlife corridors. I'm seen working there with my old blue truck.
60% of the MPD is unincorporated, including my home. I will represent your values and will, making certain that the MPD goals match the community desires and pocket book. A Pool? Of course. We need a facility for residents to learn to swim. A $25+million water park? Likely not. A larger carbon footprint should be rejected.
The health of our children, pets and abundant wildlife that shares our parks demand sound environmental practices. As a steward of the community and of the land, I ask for your vote to join the MPD Board of Commissioners.
