Statement:

Northshore Utility District has five excellent commissioners who work well together to bring you safe, low-cost water.  Keeping your water and sewer rates as some of the lowest in King County, we are working efficiently to maintain the utility facilities in excellent condition while having an exceptionally low employee to connections ratio.  Having completed a survey of the entire district, we are on track in a comprehensive program to replace the older parts of the system to insure continuing safe and trouble-free service. With prudent financial management, we have maintained an outstanding AAA rating from Standard and Poor’s.

We have made a multi-million-dollar investment to strengthen our facilities and reservoirs from earthquakes.  We exercise a leading role among the north Lake Washington municipal agencies in emergency preparedness, to which I bring a 30-year military background in security.

I appreciate your continued support in me by reelecting me as a Commissioner.

Statement:

On a governing board, it is beneficial to have a member with accounting and finance as an area of expertise.  For many years, this has been missing from Northshore Utility District’s (NUD’s) Board of Commissioners.  The first line of NUD’s Mission Statement is “Manage available resources for the best long-term interest of our ratepayers”.  Finance is one of the keys to this statement.  As a CPA with over 35 years of experience in the corporate, governmental, and non-profit sectors, including nine years serving as NUD’s Finance Director from 2012 – 2021, I understand this business well.

As Commissioner, my commitment to NUD’s ratepayers will be to preserve low rates, ensure clean and plentiful drinking water, provide safe sanitary sewer services, maintain strong reserves to meet the demands for growth and asset replacement, reduce operating costs, and attract and retain a dedicated employee base.

I appreciate your vote.

Statement:

I have served the Northshore community for over 20 years as a health care provider and business owner. My experience has taught me to be fiscally responsible while maintaining exceptional customer service.

As a member of the City of Kenmore’s DEIA Task Force I have seen the need for greater access to clean and affordable water. I will improve our ability to provide affordable service without excessive rate increases over time. I will bring a broader perspective, an inclusive environment, and a sense of belonging to the employees and customers of the Northshore Utility District (NUD) and the Board of Commissioners. I will make the NUD a leader in environmental responsibility, sustainability, and fiscal accountability. I will expand the customer assistance program to avoid disrupting service to our economically vulnerable customers. Clean, affordable drinking water and sewer service are hallmarks of our growing community and the NUD.
