Statement:

Judge Rebecca Robertson was appointed to the King County District Court  in 2021, and for the previous 12 years, she served as a  Federal Way Municipal Court judge, helping to improve public safety, protecting individual rights and liberties, and making the community a better place for everyone.  She understands the important role judges can play in both ensuring offender accountability and personal empowerment of those who find themselves enmeshed in the justice system.

Judge Robertson has been a statewide leader in our judiciary, serving as President of the District and Municipal Court Judges’ Association and actively leading efforts for better courthouse security, especially in rural areas.  She has also worked toward setting more realistic and professional standards for the Public Defenders who serve our most marginalized populations.  Judge Robertson is particularly proud of the work she has done to educate both judges and other elected leaders about the importance of judicial independence.
