Statement:

Judge Dhillon brings to the bench the kind of cross-cultural awareness that can only be authentic if it has been lived. In 1989 Judge Dhillon’s East Indian family immigrated to the United States, and before attending law school, she became a voice for crime victims as a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate at the King County Prosecutor’s Office. She brought to that work a first-hand understanding of the perspectives of different cultures about the crime of domestic violence.  Then for 17 years, she served King County’s indigent population as a highly-regarded public defender and private defense attorney.  Judges and attorneys praised her zealous advocacy for the disadvantaged, her knowledge of the law, and her strong but calm demeanor.

Judge Dhillon is an advisory board member for The Judicial Institute which is dedicated to diversifying Washington State’s judiciary.
