Judge Leah Taguba works hard to achieve justice that everyone recognizes.

The King County Council unanimously appointed Judge Taguba to District Court.  She works in the Auburn Courthouse, addressing Auburn and Covington cases.  She also presides in Auburn Community Court, a court where accountability, public safety and harm reduction are achieved through intensive supervision, access to supportive resources and minimal use of jail time.  This is a collaborative court, created by the City of Auburn Prosecutor, public defense, and District Court.

Judge Taguba’s 17 years of legal experience includes 15 spent handling criminal cases in District and Superior Court and supervising 34 prosecutors and staff in District Court as a Senior Deputy Prosecutor.  She has provided leadership and mentorship to her team, and solved problems with a balanced view of justice.

Judge Taguba is committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.  She serves on the Washington Supreme Court Minority and Justice Commission and is a member of the Race and Criminal Justice Task Force. Judge Taguba’s hard work and balanced views have earned her an Exceptionally Well Qualified rating from five separate Bar Associations in King County.  Judge Taguba is committed to real justice.  She is grateful for your support.
