November 2022 General Election
Prosecuting Attorney
I am running for King County Prosecutor to return justice and accountability to this office. As Mayor of a city of 103,000 residents, I see first-hand how the policies and actions of the prosecutor have impacted our quality of life throughout this region.
We need leadership with a common-sense approach to rehabilitation and an office that partners with local officials to ensure public safety. As Mayor, I have looked for solutions to deter crime by strengthening community and supporting working families. I believe in second chances, but not revolving doors where the same people commit the same crimes.
As an award-winning former King County Senior Deputy Prosecutor and head of the Domestic Violence Court Unit, I have tried hundreds of jury trials and handled thousands of cases. As a Mayor, I am an experienced manager of nearly 600 employees with a budget of $100 million.
I am the only candidate who has ever tried a criminal case. The backlog of felony cases in the prosecutors office has reached crisis levels – nearly 5,000 felony cases, 500 sexual assault cases and 230 murder cases await prosecution while victims await justice.
With 19 years of experience as a prosecutor, I will utilize diversion programs to rehabilitate those who commit crime and return people to healthy and productive lives.
I ask for your vote! Endorsed by Congressman Adam Smith (D); Rep. Amy Walen (D); fmr. Rep. Kristine Reeves (D); King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer; the Mayors of Algona, Auburn, Black Diamond, Covington, Des Moines, Duvall, Enumclaw, Kent, Issaquah, Maple Valley, Normandy Park, Pacific, Redmond, Renton, Tukwila; Labor unions like LiUNA Local 242, ATU 587, Seattle Building Trades, Firefighters Local 2024; Seattle King County Realtors; Police Guilds of King County, Seattle, Bellevue, Kent, Federal Way, and Des Moines; and the 47th District Democrats.

Keeping our neighborhoods safe, reducing property crime, and protecting victims and the vulnerable requires proven experience and hands-on leadership. As Prosecutor, I’ll bring unmatched expertise building and implementing effective crime-reduction strategies, juvenile justice reform, and survivor support to this important office. At a time of increasing hate crimes and legal attacks on reproductive rights, I’ll be the first woman and first person of color to serve as your Prosecutor.
Under my leadership as Chief of Staff, supervising a staff of 600 professionals, the Prosecutor’s Office charges violent crimes, sexual assaults, and property crimes every day – without exception - even when the pandemic closed Courts and halted jury trials. The resulting Court backlog has not impacted our office’s commitment to safety and justice.
I’m the only candidate for this office who has developed criminal justice policies and led teams of prosecutors – building trusted partnerships with law enforcement, public defenders, business leaders, and advocates for equity and justice. I’ve helped lead efforts increasing support for victims of domestic violence and assault, and established models for alternative sentencing – helping veterans, youth, and people with behavioral health and addiction crises repay their debts while rebuilding their lives.
My commitment to reducing gun violence is reflected in our state’s strongest Extreme Risk Protection Order policies – removing guns from troubled hands and homes. I’ve worked statewide to ban high capacity magazines and untraceable “ghost guns” and provide law enforcement tools to track weapons used in crime.
I’m endorsed by retiring Prosecutor Dan Satterberg; former Governor Gary Locke; US Representative Marilyn Strickland; Executive Dow Constantine; Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell; Over 30 County and City Leaders; Retired Justices Bobbe Bridge, Faith Ireland; Former U.S. Attorneys Mike McKay, John McKay; 27 Democratic legislators; every King County Democratic Party Organization; Unions; Alliance for Gun Responsibility; more!
