Riverview School District No.407

Proposition No. 3
General Obligation Bonds

The Board of Directors of Riverview School District No. 407 has approved Resolution No. 25-8, concerning a proposition for bonds. This proposition would authorize the District to replace Tolt Middle School and repurpose portions of the campus for flexible community and gym space; make safety and security improvements to school entrances; expand, reconfigure and make systems and other capital improvements to schools and facilities district-wide, by issuing up to $185,500,000 of general obligation bonds maturing within 20 years, and levying annual excess property taxes to repay the bonds, all as described in Resolution No. 25-8.

Should this proposition be:

Passage of Proposition 3 would enable Riverview School District to Replace Tolt Middle School and repurpose portions of the campus for flexible community and gym space; upgrade HVAC systems and building controls at all schools; replace the roof and Performing Arts Center lighting at Cedarcrest High School; improve fire protection, secure entries, and main office traffic flow; reconfigure and update building spaces at Carnation Elementary School; enhance playfields at all elementary schools; upgrade athletic fields, tracks, and lighting; renovate space for transportation and community use; and make district-wide safety, building, and systems improvements.

These projects will address major facility and program needs, modernize technology and student learning environments, improve safety and security, and improve and expand playfields and athletic facilities for student and community use.

Tax exemptions may be available to homeowners who are 61 or older, or disabled, and who meet certain income requirements. For information regarding exemptions, call the King County Assessor at (206) 296-7300.

Prop. No. 3 will cover necessary improvements at every school building in Riverview School District.

Tolt Middle School must be replaced, and key existing buildings repurposed for community use.  The current Tolt buildings have served their original purpose well but are no longer adequate for today’s educational needs.  Replacing them with a modern, secure campus will set our students up for a future of success.  Creating a new, functional transportation center from some of the existing Tolt buildings and repurposing others for  community use creates a win-win scenario for our entire community.

Every elementary school will receive important safety upgrades that meet today’s standards.  These include; secure vestibules, improved surveillance systems, improved fire and freeze protections, and strengthened building structures.  The roof; football field lighting and controls; and theater lighting systems at Cedarcrest will be replaced.  Your yes vote today delivers better facilities at a lower long-term cost.

These are improvements identified by a working committee of Riverview community members, principals, teachers, parents, and students.

Supporting the capital bond means supporting our students, our schools, our future.

Vote Yes for Success.
