Snoqualmie Pass Fire And Rescue

Proposition No. 1
Property Tax Levy for Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Services

The Board of Snoqualmie Pass Fire and Rescue adopted Resolution No. 2023-08, concerning a proposition to maintain and adequately fund District operations.

This proposition would authorize the District to restore its 2023 property tax levy to $1.00 per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation and would authorize the setting of a limit factor of 106% for each of the following five years subject to statutory limits. The funds will maintain and improve fire protection, emergency medical services and provide for firefighter safety. The maximum allowable levy in the final year shall serve as the base for subsequent levy limitations.

Should this proposition be:

Approved

Rejected

Snoqualmie Pass Fire and Rescue provides emergency fire protection, rescue and emergency medical services to its community.

Due to the statutory 1% limitation on property tax increases, the Fire District’s current levy rate has been reduced from $1.00 per thousand of assessed valuation in 2021 to approximately $.75 per thousand.

If approved by the voters, this proposition will authorize the District to restore its regular property tax levy rate to $1.00 per $1,000 of assessed valuation in 2023 for collection in 2024. The proposition will also allow the District to better keep pace with inflation by establishing an annual growth factor of 6% per year. At the end of the six-year period, absent further voter approval, the District tax levy rate will be subject to statutory limitations.

Approval of this measure will allow the District to maintain the level of fire protection and emergency medical services provided to its citizens.

Public safety is an essential service; support our Firefighters by voting yes to restore the fire levy rate to $1.00 per $1,000.00 of assessed value.  Invest in the safety of our families, our property, and our community. We have all felt the cost of inflation during the pandemic; it hit our fire district especially hard.

In emergencies, rapid response makes a difference. Approving the levy will maintain fast response times, crucial to minimizing damage and saving lives. Rapid growth has seen increased call volumes in medical, motor vehicle accidents and fire calls.

Funding the levy will enable the district to attract, train, and retain skilled firefighters and EMTs. Our volunteer Firefighters and paid staff have earned our financial support. They are dedicated professionals, giving their time and risking their health and wellbeing for us, they deserve no less. With a growing population, an active Ski/Bike Park, a main interstate corridor, our Firefighters need resources to deal with these challenges.

By investing in safety we safeguard our person and families, our personal investments, contribute to the overall stability and value of our property and create a vibrant community. Provide our Firefighters with the resources they need. Vote yes on Proposition 1.
