Passage of Proposition No. 1 would allow the levy of $75,000 in property taxes within Skykomish School District No. 404 for collection in 2024, the levy of $75,000 for collection in 2025, the levy of $75,000 for collection in 2026 and the levy of $75,000 for collection in 2027, to fund acquisition and installation, implementation and management of computer technology and technology systems, facilities and projects, including but not limited to enhancing infrastructure, acquiring hardware, licensing software, and implementing online applications and training.  In accordance with Resolution No. 07_02_2023 approving this proposition, these taxes would be collected over the 2023-2024 through 2026-2027 school years, inclusive, and deposited in the District’s Capital Projects Fund for such improvements to meet the current and future educational programs for its students.  If authorized by the voters, and based on projected assessed valuation information, estimated levy rates per $1,000 of assessed value would be $.22694  (2024 collection), $ .22694(2025 collection), $.22694 (2026 collection) and $.22694 (2027 collection).  The exact levy rate shall be adjusted based upon the actual assessed value of the property within the District at the time of the levy.

Vote Yes on Proposition 1. This is not a new levy.  The existing levy is about to expire.  In order to extend the existing levy, a Yes vote is required.

Computer technology in schools is fundamental. We must ensure the basic and fundamental facets first in order to experience the transformative power of quality education.

In the near future, today’s students will be the leaders, workers, and service providers of the communities in which we and our families live.  It’s important to set them up for success now.

This levy pays for student technology needs, computers, smart boards and infrastructure to support this.  The levy funds provide a way for Skykomish School District to keep all our students using current technology, fundamental and crucial in education today.  Please vote Yes on Proposition 1
