Strong schools benefit the entire community. Your “yes” vote for our schools maintains programs, staffing, and supplies needed to support student learning. State funding alone does not ensure we can continue providing opportunities for our students that set us apart. Local levy funds invest in the type of education for which Tahoma is known.
A “yes” will provide continued support to security, mental health, nurses, extended enrichment, teachers, paraeducators, support for struggling students, and opportunities such as athletics, activities, expanded electives, elementary science and art, transportation, summer school, and community facilities use.
Tahoma is a good steward of tax dollars and excels at maximizing resources to help students succeed. Our cost-per-student levy rate is one of the lowest in King County, yet we are among the top districts in the state. This replacement levy rate is less than in many other districts. Tahoma is asking for a more modest $2 rather than the $2.50 allowed by law. The increased investment for the owner of a home valued at $400,000 is $200 per year.
Community support is critical to have high-performing schools. With community levy support, Tahoma can continue to provide the level of excellence it has achieved. Vote yes!
