NO

Passage of Proposition No. 3 would allow the levy of $250,000 in property taxes within Riverview School District for collection in 2011 and the levy of $250,000 in taxes for collection in 2012. In accordance with Resolution No. 09-10 approving this proposition, these taxes would be deposited into the District’s Transportation Vehicle Fund and used to pay for new and replacement of school buses within the District. If authorized by the voters and based on current assessed valuation information, estimated levy rates per $1,000 of assessed value would be $0.08 (2011 collection) and $0.08 (2012 collection).

Your YES vote for Riverview’s 2-Year Transportation Levy will provide funding to ensure that our students continue to travel to and from school in safe, up-to-date buses. The last transportation levy request was in 2002.

Passage of this Levy will generate enough revenue, together with the state reimbursement dollars, to keep the fleet up to date for a ten-year period. The plan is to purchase 23 new buses over ten years. This 2-Year Transportation Levy of only $500,000, along with state reimbursement dollars, will provide the estimated $2,894,800 needed for the 23 new bus acquisitions over the next ten years.
