Passage of Proposition No. 2 would enable the Riverview School District No. 407 to renew an expiring levy for capital projects and technology needs. The proposed levy would authorize collection of supplemental annual excess property taxes of $4,800,000 in 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030.

If voters approve this proposition, these taxes would be deposited into the District’s Capital Projects Fund and used to modernize its educational facilities through the acquisition and installation, implementation and management of computer technology and technology systems, facilities and projects, including but not limited to software licensing, student devices, classroom upgrades including the acquisition of Career and Technical Education classroom equipment, enhancing school safety and network infrastructure, sustaining necessary technology staffing, and implementing online applications, subscriptions, including upgrades and incidental services, and training related to the installation of the foregoing as an integral part of the District’s technology systems, facilities, or projects; and supporting ongoing maintenance and building improvements.

Based on projected assessed valuation information, the District estimates a tax rate for this proposed levy of between $0.51 and $0.56 per $1,000 of assessed value for each of the four collection years (2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030). A property tax exemption may be available to certain senior or disabled homeowners who meet specified income limits. For information regarding exemptions, call the King County Assessor at (206) 296-7300.

Prop. No. 2 will renew the levy that voters passed in 2022 and that expires this year.  This is not a new tax.  The funds provided by the Technology and Capital Projects Levy are crucial for the ongoing maintenance of our schools.  Facilities projects such as painting, flooring, electrical and HVAC work, paving, and lighting are paid for by this levy.

This levy ensures that the essential technological tools our students learn from and interact with are modern, safe, and reliable.  This includes the larger scale infrastructure and network security that maintains connectivity throughout the district.

In addition to cyber security, there are important upgrades to the physical security of our campuses that are covered by the Technology and Capital Projects Levy so families can feel confident that schools are prepared and protected.

Vote Yes for Safety.
