Enumclaw Fire Department

Proposition No. 1
Restoring Property Tax Levy for Fire and Emergency Medical Services

The Board of Commissioners of Enumclaw Fire Department adopted Resolution No. 2022-01 to finance fire protection and emergency medical services. This proposition authorizes Enumclaw Fire Department to restore its regular property tax levy to $1.50 per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation for collection in 2023 and establishes a limit factor of six percent for the following five years to maintain fire protection, emergency medical services and provide for firefighter and public safety. The maximum allowable levy made in 2027 for collection in 2028 shall serve as the base for computing subsequent levy limitations under chapter 84.55 RCW.

Should this Proposition be:

Approved

Rejected

Enumclaw Fire Department provides emergency fire protection and medical services to its citizens. If approved by the voters, this proposition will authorize the District to restore its regular real property tax levy rate to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed valuation in 2022 for collection in 2023 (the current levy is approximately $1.36 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) and will establish an annual growth rate of up to 6% for each of the following five years.  The dollar amount levied in 2027 for collection in 2028 shall serve as the District’s tax levy base and absent further voter approval, the tax levy will then be subject to the statutory one percent limit.

The District’s Board of Commissioners has determined that this proposition is necessary to maintain an effective level of services, fire fighter staffing, equipment and facilities in light of rising costs. Approval of this measure will allow the District to maintain the level of fire protection and emergency medical services provided to its citizens.

Support by Voting Yes for sustainable Life Safety Services in Enumclaw!

Enumclaw Fire Dept. is a shining example of how a well-run local government organization can be an incredible asset to a community such as Enumclaw. Enumclaw Fire has demonstrated time and again that they provide a high level of public safety through responsible management of the resources we have entrusted to them. With the increased cost of services and a growing population, now is the time to Vote Yes to continue providing the resources needed to sustain the level of public safety we are fortunate to have in Enumclaw.

In our daily lives, we all see the rising costs of goods and services we rely on. The same is true for our local business and Enumclaw Fire. Additionally, the need to provide public safety services has increased with the growth of our community. The call volume over the past ten years has increased nearly 40%. Notably, the increase was 12.6% in 21’ and projected to be 14% in 22’. Increased demand that will continue to grow highlights the need for increased staffing and additional response capability to ensure that we have a unit that is available to respond when more than one request for aid occurs at the same time.

Enumclaw Fire, through its exemplary performance, has formed a strong partnership with this community, demonstrated fiscal responsibility, and has upheld commitments made in the years since the last levy was approved by voters (2016).

Now is the time to ensure sustainable Life Safety Services. Now is the time to Vote Yes on Prop 1!
