Cleaning Products

Description:

Cleaning products include items such as ammonia, bleach, drain opener, furniture polish, oven cleaner and toilet bowl cleaner. Product labels may include "Danger", "Warning", "Poison", "Caustic" or "Flammable."

Options & Restrictions:

King County recommends that cleaning products be used completely before disposing of empty containers. If materials cannot be used, they should be disposed at a household hazardous waste facility. There are often less toxic alternatives for many cleaning products.

Businesses wishing to dispose of cleaning products should consult the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program (LHWMP) for guidelines because disinfectants and cleaning solutions may designate as hazardous waste depending on their ingredients and concentrations.
