Mayor

Jim Ferrell

Jim Ferrell

Education: Law Degree, Gonzaga, 1993; Bachelor of Arts, University of Washington, 1989
Occupation: Federal Way City Council Deputy Mayor; Senior Prosecutor, King County

Statement:

You deserve a Mayor that shows true leadership, serves as your advocate and stands up for what is right for the future of this City; a Mayor with a vision for a vibrant downtown core, that values public safety as a top priority.

As your Mayor, I will:

Increase public safety: We recently experienced a 25% increase in burglaries while the current mayor has cut police officer funding.  As a prosecutor with two decades of experience, I am committed to making Federal Way a safer city and I’m honored to be endorsed by our Police Officer’s and Lieutenant’s Guilds.

Create a vibrant city core:  By attracting living-wage jobs, retail development, and a downtown park; and

Increase fiscal responsibility:  By eliminating wasteful spending and unnecessary projects. I will always serve as steward of your hard-earned tax dollars.

Occupation: Mayor--City of Federal Way

Statement:

As your first elected Mayor, public safety is my number one priority.  Through innovative programs such as Safe City, we have reduced home burglary and kept our neighborhoods safe.  We have also created a responsible budget—maintaining essential services like vibrant parks and well maintained streets—while keeping our tax rate one of the county’s lowest.  My vision for our city is focused on developing a vibrant downtown, bringing in new businesses like DaVita, and ensuring that we have the revenues necessary to maintain city priorities while keeping taxes low.  I have been honored to again receive an “Outstanding” rating by the Municipal League and voted “Best City Leader” by Federal Way Mirror readers the last three years.  With your vote and support, I will continue to work for safe neighborhoods, new family wage jobs, and a high quality of life for our residents.
